Reviving Historical Baseball in the Spirit of 1886
The Aloha Vintage Base Ball Association brings back the grand game as it was played in 1886—during the final years of Hawaiʻi as a sovereign kingdom. But our purpose goes beyond the field. Our kuleana is to educate, preserve, and uplift: to tell moʻolelo, honor Hawaiian history, and keep the story of baseball in Hawaiʻi alive for generations to come.
We play under the 1886 Spalding rules, using reproduction equipment, period uniforms, and the same gentlemanly conduct expected of pāʻani of the day. But more than reenactment, this is a living, breathing history—played with laughter, camaraderie, and aloha.
Through our annual Kalakaua Base Ball Jubilee, barnstorming tours, and community partnerships, we celebrate Hawaiʻi’s place in early baseball history and invite everyone; pāʻani, haku, and hui alike to join in the experience.
We believe history should be shared widely and accessed freely, and that the spirit of baseball belongs to everyone. Whether you come to play, volunteer, or simply watch under the sun, we welcome you to step back into 1886 and take part in Hawaiʻi’s story.
